Kebbi School Girls Abduction: CUPP Expresses Great Shock, Says Tinubu's Presidency A Failure

By Our Reporter

Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has expressed great shock over abduction of many school girls from Maga, Kebbi State by bandits, saying that this cycle of recurrent school tragedies in the country signalled a total leadership failure under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of President Bola Tinubu.

Recalled that suspected bandits early Monday morning attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, Danko Wasagu area of Kebbi State, killing the Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting 25 students.

CUPP expressed this concern in a signed release by its National Spokesperson, Comrade Mark Adebayo, copy of which was made available to newsmen on Tuesday, describing the sad incident as "a continuous pattern of banditry that the APC government has no solution for in the past ten years."

The coalition, while further condemning the incident, noted that President Tinubu's presidency was particularly notorious for messing up everything in the country country, describing his presidency as predictably incompetent, and unfocused administration.

According to CUPP,  President Tinubu is only concerned with his reelection in 2027, with his party, the ruling APC busy organizing rallies for him and welcoming decampees into the fold, while the country is burning under insecurity and harrowing economic pressures.

"While the country is burning under insecurity and harrowing economic pressures, this president is only concerned with his reelection in 2027.

"Rather than care for the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians, President Bola Tinubu's party is busy organizing rallies for the President and welcoming decampees into APC with fanfare while dancing on the blood and graves of victims of terrorism and banditry.

"There is a general attitude of callous indifference on the part of this government that exposes them as totally disengaged from the overwhelming suffering of Nigerians," the coalition stated.

CUPP, while insisting that there was "a total failure of leadership in Nigeria which is pushing us fast to the brink of state failure," alleged that from April 2014 when the Chibok incident took place "till today, estimated five thousand students and pupils have been abducted with some even killed in cold blood in their school premises."

This was just as it noted that change of Service Chiefs was no solution to Nigeria’s insecurity, saying that this remained so "for as long as the government lacks the political will to arrest and jail or execute sponsors of terrorism and banditry in the country, for so long would the problems of insecurity remain intractable."

"There is total failure of leadership in Nigeria which is pushing us fast to the brink of state failure. From April 2014 in Chibok till today, estimated five thousand students and pupils have been abducted with some even killed in cold blood in their school premises. We have often argued that change of service chiefs is no solution to Nigeria’s insecurity. For as long as the government lacks the political will to arrest and jail or execute sponsors of terrorism and banditry in the country, for so long would the problems of insecurity remain intractable.

"Several reports have suggested that the government has a list of the sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria but the government has refused to arrest them for reasons best known to them.

"We know that government and security agencies would vow to recover the girls and promise that such incidents wouldn't happen again as they usually lie to Nigerians. In few months, if not few days' time another would still happen.

"Nigeria is being run by extremely incompetent and ignorant rulers. They know next to nothing about governance. This is why Nigerians must choose a new direction in 2027 by voting out this government that has turned itself into an undertaker of Nigeria," the coalition said.

"CUPP, however, commiserated with the families of the kidnapped girls, the school's Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku and others tragically killed in what it described as a preventable attack, even as it called on President Tinubu to resign from office and allow the country breathe again, "having realized  that he cannot steer the ship of the Nigerian state."

"CUPP commiserates with the families of the kidnapped girls and Vice Principal Hassan Yakubu Makuku and others tragically killed in that preventable attack. Having realized  that he cannot steer the ship of the Nigerian state, the best option for President Tinubu to resign and let the country breathe again," it said.
