Federal Government has declared Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, 2025 as well as Thursday, January 1, 2026 as public holidays for Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations respectfully.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

The minister, in the statement, encouraged Nigerians to embrace the core values of Christmas, such as love, peace, humility, and sacrifice, as exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.

Tunji-Ojo called on all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity, to use the festive period to pray for continued peace, enhanced security, and national progress.

The minister equally enjoined the public to remain law-abiding and security-conscious throughout the celebrations, just as he extended his wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all Nigerians.
