Uphold LASU Academic Integrity, Define Long Term Vision - Sanwo-Olu Charges Governing Council

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday sworn in 12- member Governing Council for Lagos State University (LASU), urging the body
to provide stability, uphold academic integrity, and define the long-term vision that will sustain institution in an era marked by technological disruption, global competition, and rapidly changing educational demands. 

Governor Sanwo-Olu, while speaking at the event which took place at the Lagos House, Ikeja, maintained that the Governing Council playee a central role in shaping the  legacy, the institution is noted for. 

"You are called to provide stability, uphold academic integrity, and define the long-term vision that will sustain LASU in an era marked by technological disruption, global competition, and rapidly changing educational demands," he charged. 

The governor said their leadership must, therefore, embody transparency, accountability, courage, stressing that those were the qualities that preserved institutional credibility and strengthen the trust of students, faculty, parents, and partners. 

"Your selection is not only a recognition of your individual accomplishments but also a call to service to an institution that carries the hopes and aspirations of thousands of young people. 

"The university and state look to you to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction that will strengthen the institution and position it among leading universities globally." Sanwo-Olu said. 

Sanwo-Olu explained that LASU, over the years, had proven itself as an engine of mobility, a platform for transformation, and a cradle of innovation, saying that many of the brightest minds in the state and country had passed through its classrooms, laboratories, and lecture halls with their achievements standing "as testimony to the value LASU brings to society." 

He, however, thanked Sir David O. A. SUNMONI FCA, KJW, the immediate past chairman of last Governing Council for his meritorious service to the university and the state. 

The governor commended him that under his visionary stewardship, the Council had upheld the highest standards of governance and made  invaluable contributions that had indeed led to the success and achievements of the University in recent years which had garnered both national and global recognition for  LASU. 

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of the newly sworn in Governing Council, Mr. Babatunde Ogala (SAN), said the body had developed a strategy and would pick the one that would not disappoint the state government. 

"We are conscious of the position of LASU, it is the most sort after institution. During our tenure, we shall maintain and improve on the standard set."
