Sultan of Sokoto Mourns Demise Of Ilorin Chief Imam

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, HFNIM, has mourned the passing the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh (Dr.) Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON, describing the late Shaykh as a great scholar who dedicated his life to the service Allah through Islam, humanity and, by extension, the Muslim Ummah.

Reacting to the sorrowful development, Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar, in a statement issued by his media team, 
Media Team of Sultan of Sokoto, expressed his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the Kwara State Government and the immediate family of the late Islamic cleric.

Sa'ad Abubakar noted that the late I am Solih's loyalty to the principles of Islam, wisdom in guiding the faithful, and profound knowledge of Islamic scholarship earned him great respect, adding that his efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence, unity, and harmony among Muslims and non-Muslims were excellent.

According to the Sultan, the late Shaykh Solih, while alive evidently explored his leadership and guidance to inspire countless individuals towards righteousness and moral uprightness, noting that his profound understanding of the Qur'an, Hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence,  no doubt, enriched Islamic literature through scholarship and writings.

He further described him as "a beacon of hope, guiding the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim Ummah towards a brighter future, with tireless efforts which earned him the respect and admiration of the Ilorin community and humanity at large."

"His loyalty to the principles of Islam, wisdom in guiding the faithful, and profound knowledge of Islamic scholarship earned him great respect and we were living witness to that.

"His efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence, unity, and harmony among Muslims and non-Muslims were excellent as he evidently explored his leadership and guidance to inspire countless individuals towards righteousness and moral uprightness.

"Shaykh Bashir Solih's profound understanding of the Qur'an, Hadith, and Islamic jurisprudence,  no doubt, enriched Islamic literature through scholarship and writings and he was a beacon of hope, guiding the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim Ummah towards a brighter future, with tireless efforts which earned him the respect and admiration of the Ilorin community and humanity at large," the Sultan stated.

Sa'ad Abubakar prayed that God should forgive the late Imam Solih's shortcomings, bless and admit his gentle soul to Al-Jannah Firdaos.

"May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, bless and admit his gentle soul to Al-Jannah Firdaos, Amiin," the Sultan prayed.
