Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has vowed to resign if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fails to win in the state, come 2027 General Elections.

Governor Okpebholo made the vow on Friday while appearing on African Independent Television, declaring that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) now dominates Edo’s political landscape and faces "no real opposition" ahead of the next general polls.

The governor reeled out development projects in the state, saying that Edo people would appreciate President Tinubu through the ballot come 2027.

According to Okpebolo, the various projects across the state will speak for Tinubu and he will win here, adding: "Bet me, if he doesn’t win, I will resign as governor."

"Edo people have not even thanked Tinubu. How they will thank him is through their votes.

"The various projects across the state are the things that will speak for Tinubu and he will win here. Bet me, if he doesn’t win, I will resign as governor.

"There’s no election here for him. I’m a politician, who under-studied Chief Anenih. My style of politics is not thuggery but grassroots," he stated.
