The Ondo State Government has strongly refuted what it described as malicious and unfounded allegations by unscrupulous elements claiming that thugs were deployed to disrupt a recent political gathering of the ruling All Progressives Congress () APC in the state, describing such as false, misleading.
The government, in a release issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, copy of which was made available to newsmen on Wednesday, said such narrative was not true, further describing it as a calculated attempt to tarnish the reputation of the administration of Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and distrupt the peaceful political climate currently enjoyed across Ondo State.
The commissioner stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa was neither aware of nor connected to the said meeting and could not have sanctioned any act of thuggery.
Ajanaku emphasized that the governor had consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership rooted in civility, inclusiveness, and democratic principles, adding that his track record reflected a strong aversion to violence and political intimidation in any form.
According to him, the APC in Ondo State remains a disciplined and people-oriented political platform committed to constructive engagement, stressing that numerous political meetings and stakeholder consultations had been conducted peacefully across the state without any record of disruption.
He said this development underscored the maturity and orderliness that defined the party’s operations under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership.
This was just as he noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s primary focus remained the delivery of good governance and the advancement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the state administration was committed to sustaining peace, strengthening democratic values, and accelerating development initiatives that would improve the welfare and prosperity of all citizens of Ondo State.
"It is reaffirmed that the Governor’s primary focus remains the delivery of good governance and the advancement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The administration is committed to sustaining peace, strengthening democratic values, and accelerating development initiatives that will improve the welfare and prosperity of all citizens of Ondo State," he said.
"The Ondo State Government, therefore, urged members of the public to disregard the baseless allegations and remain confident in the administration’s unwavering commitment to peace, security, and democratic integrity.
"It also warned purveyors of falsehood to desist from spreading misinformation capable of undermining public trust and destabilizing the state’s political harmony," Ajanaku said.
