The Okei family has announced the death of Comrade Francisca Mebu, younger sister to Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, a prominent human rights activist.
Comrade Francisca Mebu, nee Okei, died on Monday in Abuja at the age of 51.
Okei-Odumakin, in a statement, titled: "Sunset At Dawn," issued on Tuesday on behalf of the family, confirmed the sad news, describing the passing of her sister as tragic.
The family, through the statement, requested that the public should let it mourn in private as it "grieves over the earthly loss."
"Tragic demise of Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin's sister Franca Mebu nee Okei.
"This is to announce the tragic demise of Comrade Francisca Mebu, a younger sister of frontline human rights activist, Dr. Joe Odumakin. This incident happened on Monday, 26th January, 2026 in Abuja at 51.
"While the family grieves over the earthly loss, we request the public to let the family mourn in private.
"May her soul rest eternally with her maker and guide over her young triplets children and her husband. Adieu!" the statement read.
