The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Charles Soludo as the winner of the Anambra State Governorship Election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

INEC Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, made the declaration, saying that Soludo, the incumbent governor won in all the 21 local government areas of the state by polling 422,664 votes, the highest out of a total of 584,054 valid votes collated across the state.

According to returning officer, Soludo lead over his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Nigeria’s Young Progressives Party (YPP) polled 37,753 votes.

Other candidates in the race include
John Chuma Nwosu of African Democratic Congress (ADC), who scored 8,208 votes and Chief Jude Ezenwafor of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 1,401 votes.

"The number of registered voters was 2,788,864, while accredited voters were 598,229. Total valid votes were 584,054, while rejected votes were 11,244, and total votes cast were 595,298.

“After collating the results as tallied into Form EC8E, it is now my privilege to mention the figures each candidate got according to their political parties.

“When the various polling officers were announcing their results, they mentioned that there were some ward areas affected by incidents, which meant some results were cancelled, and we asked them to fill a form.

“The affected areas include Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South LGAs, where the area affected had 10,481. And when we calculated the number of leads between the highest number of votes, and in view of this, the margin did not in any way affect the result.

“I am Prof. Edoba Omoregie, I am the returning officer of this 2025 Anambra State governorship election. I hereby declare that the election was peaceful.

“Chukwuma Soludo of the APGA, having scored 422,664 to become the highest number of votes in this election, having satisfied the requirements of the law and got the highest votes, is declared the winner and is returned elected," Omoregie declared.
