President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of the Kasuwan Daji attack in Niger State, in which no fewer than 40 persons were killed, saying that they should ensure those behind the attack were swiftly brought to justice.

President Tinubu gave the directive in statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga.

It would be recalled that gunmen, on Saturday, killed no fewer than 40 persons, including women, even as they reportedly kidnapped an unspecified number of people during an attack on Kasuwan Daji market in Demo community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the community around 4 pm on Saturday and operated until the early hours of Sunday, during which they equally carted away foodstuffs and other valuables worth millions of naira before setting the market ablaze.

The president also directed the security agencies to rescue all the abducted victims urgently, vowing that the terrorists had tested the resolve of the country and its people and, therefore, must be made to face the full consequences of their criminal actions no matter who they were or what their intent was.

"These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down.

"They, and all those who aid, abet, or enable them in any form, will be caught and brought to justice," the president vowed.
