Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Wednesday formally joined the Accord Party (AP) in solidarity with his uncle, the Osun State Governor, Mr Ademola Adeleke, who barely two weeks ago, officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It would be recalled that Davido had disclosed on his verified X handle on Tuesday, plans to collect his AP membership card in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday.
Governor Adeleke had on December 9, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Osogbo, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party officially unveiled the party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Adeleke had explained that his decision to dump PDP for AP was borne out the leadership crisis rocking the PDP at the national level.
“I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago, precisely November 6th, as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders,” the governor said.
