Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has died at the age of 60 after he collapsed in his office in Yenagoa on Thursday and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in the state capital.
It was gathered that the deputy governor slumped in his office at about 1:30pm and was moved into the hospital’s emergency department.
The deputy governor’s media aide, Doubara Atasi, confirmed the development but declined to give details.
Hospital sources, however, disclosed that Ewhrudjakpo died after efforts to revive him in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) failed.
Born on September 5, 1965, Ewhrudjakpo has served as the deputy governor of Bayelsa State since 2020.
He was till his death, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
