Lagos’ developmental trajectory anchor on unity, peace - Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has affirmed peace, unity, and shared values as the foundation of sustained governance and political stability in Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons, themed: "Prince of Peace – Omo Alade Alafia," held on Sunday at the APC Secretariat, Acme, Ogba.

Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, noted that Lagos’ culture of stability, internal cohesion, and disciplined political engagement had enabled the state to sustain its development trajectory for more than two decades.

The governor described the day's gathering as more than a festive celebration, but also a reminder that peace had always been the cornerstone of the ruling APC and its governance, saying that "it is this culture of peace, unity, and discipline within the APC that has kept Lagos stable and thriving, and has allowed our development journey to remain steady for over twenty years."

Governor Sanwo-Olu further stressed that the party’s commitment to peace, unity, and disciplined leadership remained the bedrock of Lagos’ sustained development.

The governor, while acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continuous developmental agenda in the country, described him as the architect of Lagos’ political stability and development model.

He emphasized that his Renewed Hope Agenda continues to provide strategic direction for national progress, with Lagos remaining a leading example of visionary and consistent governance.

Speaking further, Sanwo-Olu noted that his administration remained focused on strengthening security, expanding critical infrastructure, empowering young people, attracting investments, and protecting the most vulnerable residents, stressing that these priorities were being pursued through a stable political environment, a strong party structure, and a shared commitment to the Lagos development agenda.

The governor commended party elders and members for their loyalty and discipline, which he said had continued to provide a strong support base for effective governance and policy continuity in Lagos State.

"The Lagos APC stands as a shining example of structure, loyalty, and discipline. Thanks to our leaders who mentor, our members who commit, and the shared values on which our party is built," the governor concluded.

Chairman, Lagos State chapter of APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and renewed hope as the country prepares for the New Year.

Ojelabi described the Christmas season as a period of reflection, love, and service, adding that the celebration reminded humanity of the values of peace, humility, and righteous leadership.

“Christmas serves as a powerful reminder of hope and unity, cutting across differences and reinforcing the need for peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility in building a prosperous Lagos State and Nigeria at large,” he said, emphasizing that true leadership is rooted in wisdom, justice, and service to humanity.

The party chieftain, therefore, called on Lagosians and Nigerians to embrace renewed hope in the coming year, anchored in unity, patriotism, and progress, urging citizens to shun bitterness, hatred, and violence, but work together to make Lagos and Nigeria safer, brighter, and more prosperous.

Ojelabi emphasized the strength and unity of the APC in Lagos State, stating that the party remained steadfast and committed to good governance and serving the people.

He applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property, assuring residents that Lagos remained safe for all.
