The Governments of Ogun and Lagos states have confirmed that Anthony Joshua the British-Nigerian two-time unified world heavyweight boxing champion was involved in a road accident earlier on Monday, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and sympathised with the families of those involved in the accident, praying that God would grant them the strength to go through this difficult time.
This was contained in a release, titled: "Statement Regarding Anthony Joshua and Others," issued and jointly signed by
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Information to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, saying that the vehicle conveying Anthony Joshua and three others ran into a stationery truck resulting in two fatalities.
The statement noted that Anthony Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised facility in Lagos, saying that doctors had conducted several clinical assessments and had confirmed that both patients were stable and needed no emergency interventions at this time.
According to the statement, a comprehensive medical team has since been convened and will continue to monitor them closely, adding that Anthony Joshua has since been relating well with his family.
It assured d that the Governments of Ogun and Lagos were keenly monitoring the situation and would ensure that the two persons receive the best medical care.
Besides, both governments said they had since commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, expressing appreciation to members of public for their concern and ask for privacy for Anthony Joshua and his family during this time.

"The vehicle conveying the team of 4, ran into a stationery truck resulting in 2 fatalities.
"We sympathise with the families of those involved in the accident, and pray that God will grant them the strength to go through this difficult time.
"Anthony Joshua and another passenger were immediately evacuated to a specialised facility in Lagos. Doctors have conducted several clinical assessments and have confirmed that both patients are stable and do not require any emergency interventions at this time.
