Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday registered his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, calling on members in Lagos State to actively participate in the exercise.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, made the call, while speaking after registering at Ward 3, St. Stephen's Primary School, Adeniji Adele in Lagos Island, describing the APC e-registration, which is ongoing across the country, as a civic responsibility and a key requirement for genuine party membership in Lagos State.

The governor also encouraged young people to take advantage of the ongoing exercise to formally identify with the ruling APC, noting that the exercise is open, free, and straightforward.

According to him, the exercise, scheduled to run throughout the month of January, is aimed at encouraging all existing and new APC members to formally validate their membership through the digital platform, disclosing that the APC e-registration exercise is being conducted simultaneously across the 245 wards in Lagos State and other parts of the country to digitally capture party members.

Governor Sanwo-Olu further disclosed that the APC e-registration required members to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) for verification, after which personal details were confirmed and a photograph was taken, adding that successful registrants were issued a printed temporary membership slip upon completion.

"The APC e-registration exercise is what will validate and confirm that you are a card-carrying member of our party. Every party member who truly wants to be called a member of the APC should take it seriously. This is the minimum you need to show sincerity and commitment to the party. Nobody is asking for anything—just come, register and collect your slip," Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor expressed satisfaction with the exercise at his ward, noting that initial technical challenges experienced on the first day had been resolved and that the registration now progressing smoothly.

He disclosed that each of the 245 wards in Lagos State was equipped with two tablets, a printer, internet connectivity and a backup power supply to ensure a smooth registration process, urging party members to create time to carry out the exercise, which, according to him, takes only five to 10 minutes once the required details were provided.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also disclosed that the digital nature of the exercise reflected the APC’s commitment to modernisation and transparency, while strengthening its membership database ahead of future engagements.
